Format Six forms: 200 multiple-choice items each. Item formats are similar to those used on Step 1. Five forms have an expanded feedback option. Four forms: 184 multiple-choice items each. Item formats are similar to those used in Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK). One form has expanded feedback option. Two forms: 180 multiple-choice items. Item formats are similar to those used in Step 3. Two forms have an expanded feedback option. Two forms per clinical science discipline: 50 multiple-choice items. Item formats are similar to those used in clinical science subject tests.

All forms have expanded feedback.

Feedback
Immediate feedback; profiles indicate strengths and weaknesses. Profiles similar to those Step 1 candidates receive.

Forms with expanded feedback provide a count of incorrect items with an opportunity to review them.

Longitudinal performance profiles are included for the six most recently completed exams started on or after April 6, 2011. Exams taken between April 13, 2009 and April 5, 2011 will be displayed on a different profile due to changes in scoring.

Access & Assessment Self-Assessments are delivered over the Web. You must log on to access a self-assessment and start it within 30 days (access period). Once the self-assessment is started, you must complete it within 20 days. You may sign off and resume/continue the self-assessment at any time during this 20-day administration period.
Fees The Comprehensive self-assessments (CBSSA, CCSSA, and CCMSA) are purchased for a fee of $50.00 in US currency ($60.00 for the expanded feedback option). The self-assessments for the Clinical Science Mastery Series are purchased for a fee of $20.00 in US currency. Purchases can be made by credit card, money order or prepaid voucher. Payment is non-refundable.

*Note: You cannot change the timing mode of a self-assessment once you have accessed it.
