Title: Security Officer
Unit:  Facilities Services - Building Facilities

 

Primary Duties include, but not limited to:

·         Access control Provide physical presence to control access to the building, deter criminal behavior, and provide assurance to NBME staff of a watchful presence & assistance to NBME staff in need of service.

·         Assist facilities services staff Assist facilities services staff as directed: Examples include greeting & signing in visitors, announcing service providers, answering security telephones, etc.

·         Monitor alarm system Monitor alarm system and respond as directed to various building alarms including fire, access control, security, mechanical systems, etc. Report on alarms as directed. Contact emergency services and support services staff as required by standing orders, procedures or best practice.

·         Destruction of secure material As scheduled and directed, physically destroy or witness the destruction of confidential and proprietary material. Document destruction as directed.

·         Document activities Document daily activities in written or electronic format. Write reports of incidents as directed. Maintain log books of keys, access cards, and sign in books.

Key Deliverables include, but not limited to:

·         Secure work environment Assist in facilities services' provision of a secure work environment by maintaining vigilance and preventing unauthorized access to the building and promptly obtaining appropriate services in case of such an event.

·         Safe work environment Assist in facilities services' provision of a safe work environment by reporting safety problems in the building and promptly obtaining appropriate services.

·         Comfortable work environment Assist in facilities services' provision of a comfortable work environment by monitoring mechanical alarms in the building and promptly obtaining appropriate services in case of such an alarm.

·         Documents activities, write reports Document activities in daily log. Write reports of incidents for management, documenting the facts surrounding such events as alarms, crimes, and accidents.

·         Renders aid & assistance Promptly renders first aid to injured persons. Promptly summons aid as required. Promptly obtains services or assistance for NBME staff and visitors as appropriate. Courteously and professionally answers telephones and radios.

·         Maintains confidentiality Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or proprietary information.

·         Destruction of secure materials Destroys proprietary of confidential materials as directed. Witness’s destruction of such material by others. Documents destruction.

 

Requirements include, but not limited to:

·         High school graduation

·         More than 1 year and up to 3 years

·         Ability to read and write the English language

·         Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

·         Ability to interact with a wide variety of people
