Item-Writing Seminar for Practitioners and Educators in the Health Professions

The NBME is pleased to offer an item-writing seminar to practitioners and educators from medical and other health professions. The seminar is appropriate not only for new item writers who want to develop and refine one-best-answer test questions but also for experienced item writers seeking a refresher course and an opportunity to learn new skills.

Objectives of the ½-day seminar include refining your item-writing techniques and enhancing the quality of items in your examinations and programs. The agenda includes a review of item-writing guidelines; examples of “good” and “bad” test items; a dynamic item-writing session; and the opportunity to interact with participants from a range of health professions.
