Health Profession Services

Test Delivery Platforms

Health Profession Services offers several different delivery platforms.

Computer-based Testing:

NBME contracts with Prometric for delivery of computer-based examinations at approved domestic and international locations within the Prometric Test Center Network. NBME’s proprietary test driver incorporates encryption and obfuscation techniques to control access to test questions, thereby limiting exposure of examination content and ensuring test security.

Web-based Testing:

Web-based testing, or delivery of examinations over the Internet, has been successfully used for proctored in-training and qualifying examinations, as well as non-proctored self-assessment examinations.  NBME offers the use of proprietary software to aid with proctoring and to restrict access to other Internet sites and online references during test sessions.

Paper & Pencil Delivery:

Depending on the requirements, scope, and objectives of the examination program, pencil and paper delivery may be the preferred method. Detailed proctoring materials are available. For smaller examinations, NBME has a secure in-house printing facility for production of test materials. NBME maintains its own shipping and receiving department to ensure test materials are shipped and stored in a timely and secure manner.
