NBME Voucher Information Program (VIP)
Medical schools may purchase payment vouchers for anyone who may be preparing to take USMLE or who wants to become familiar with USMLE structure and content. These prepaid vouchers may then be distributed and used for requesting an assessment.
- The Comprehensive Basic Science Self-Assessment (CBSSA) uses multiple-choice items based on information typically covered during basic medical education courses.
- The Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment (CCSSA) uses multiple-choice items based on information covered during the core clinical clerkships.
- The Comprehensive Clinical Medicine Self-Assessment (CCMSA) uses multiple-choice items based on information typically covered in clinical encounters.
Item content resembles that of USMLE Step 1, Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) and the multiple-choice component of Step 3, respectively.
