Send an e-mail to assessmentservices@nbme.org if you have any questions or comments about the Payment Voucher Service.
The NBME offers web-based self-assessments for US and international medical students and graduates. Self-assessments are purchased by individuals for a fee of $45.00 each by visiting the NBME Self-Assessment Services (NSAS) Interactive Website and using a credit card or money order as payment.
Medical schools or other institutions involved in medical education may purchase payment vouchers for their students, faculty, or others who may be preparing to take USMLE or who want to become familiar with USMLE structure and content. These pre-paid vouchers may then be used to request an assessment.
Requests must be made on the Payment Voucher Order Form and signed by an official of the institution such as an assistant/associate dean, registrar, etc. The fee is $45.00 for each voucher, which is good for one assessment. Vouchers may be requested for either the CBSSA, CCSSA, or both.
Send an institutional check or money order for the total amount with the completed form to the NBME as instructed. Fees must be paid in advance and are non-refundable. Personal checks will not be accepted.

The NBME will provide a list of voucher ID numbers to the institution for distribution to intended participants. Each voucher is good for six months from the NBME date of issue and for one self-assessment service. Voucher recipients will login to the NBME Self-Assessment Services website to create an account (or login to their existing account, if they have one) to request an assessment. The voucher ID # provided must be entered as the method of payment.
