Becca Runyon, PhD

Lead Measurement Scientist

Becca Runyon is a lead measurement scientist in the Office of Research Strategy at NBME.

Prior to joining NBME, Becca was Executive Director of Learning Design for the Skills for the Future initiative, a joint endeavor of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Educational Testing Service (ETS) focused on reimagining knowledge and durable skill development and demonstration in K–12 education and beyond. Becca has fulfilled various roles over their career, including leading a team of learning scientists and instructional designers in the ETS AI Labs and leading cross-functional teams in product innovation and development. They have over 10 years' experience working in applied learning science across educational technology strategy and product development contexts—K–12, higher education, workforce and language learning.

Becca holds a master’s degree in cognitive science and a doctorate in assessment and measurement from James Madison University. Their research interests include formative assessment, personalized learning and insights, durable skill and novel performance-based assessment task development.
