USING NBME® INSIGHTS® TO SUPPORT STUDENT SUCCESS

Expert Advice from MELS

How can students, particularly those who may be struggling, translate assessment results into an effective study plan? Medical Education Learning Specialists, or MELS, is using the NBME INSIGHTS dashboard to do exactly that.

Since the dashboard’s launch, the MELS group has explored how to best interpret the assessment data and make it approachable and actionable for their students.

In September 2024, four members sat down with NBME to discuss the opportunities INSIGHTS offers, how they’re integrating its data into their feedback loops and the top tips they’re sharing with students to help them maximize their study time. Watch the webinar to see exactly how they’re using the interactive dashboard to support student success.

You can also download a one-page guide that summarizes their top tips.

What their students are saying

The INSIGHTS dashboard allowed me to really hone in on what my weak points were which subsequently led to the most efficient study strategies.

The ability to track time spent on each question and categorize errors made my review sessions more efficient, ultimately boosting my confidence and performance.

The detailed data on timing, breakdown, diagnosis, interventions, and management is essential for refining my study approach.

It was so helpful learning that I did not have to restudy all of OB, I was just making a lot of errors specifically related to labor and delivery.
