TAKING THE UNITED STATES MEDICAL LICENSING EXAMINATION®

The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE®) measures your ability to apply the knowledge, concepts, and patient-centered skills that form the basis for safe and effective care.

By passing the three-step exam, you become eligible to apply for an unrestricted medical license in the United States.

About the Exam

The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and NBME® work together to co-sponsor the USMLE, which comprises Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3.

Passing each Step not only marks a milestone as you begin the next phase of your medical training and education, but also gets you closer to achieving your goal of obtaining a license to practice medicine in the United States. Visit USMLE.org to learn more or select from the Quick Links below.
