NBME Partners to Launch Data Commons, LLC

The National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) and several other leading national physician education and assessment organizations have announced their partnership to launch the Data Commons, LLC. The Data Commons is an information-sharing company that is developing a system to improve the accessibility and use of data about physicians and other healthcare professionals. The core of this new system is a secure data hub that will allow multiple organizations to make available selected information from their individual databases. The five other organizations joining in the partnership are the American Board of Family Medicine, the American Board of Pediatrics, the Association of American Medical Colleges®, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, and the Federation of State Medical Boards. The Data Commons, LLC, is a joint partnership that will administer the new system.
