Web-Conferencing with Remote Proctoring Extended until June 2022 for NBME® Subject Examinations, Customized Assessments and IFOM®

September 16, 2021

Updated June 29, 2022.

To continue to support medical schools’ and students’ need for flexibility for site of test administration, NBME will offer the current Web-Conferencing Remote Proctoring service via Zoom, Teams, Webex for the 2022-2023 academic year.

This service is available for NBME Subject Examinations; Customized Assessment Services; and International Foundations of Medicine® (IFOM) web-based Basic Science Examinations (in English only) and Clinical Science Examinations (in English and Spanish). All exams are also available for web-based administration with in-person proctoring.

Your Orders

When placing orders in the MyNBMESM Services Portal, please continue to indicate whether the exam you plan to administer will be delivered in person or remotely with web conferencing in the medical school ordering system.

Executive chief proctors can access information about security and approved web-conferencing tools and obtain Web-Conferencing with Remote Proctoring instructions on the MyNBME Services Portal.

Research by NBME psychometric professionals focused on examinees’ performances continue to show no meaningful score differences between remote and in-person administrations since remote administrations began during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can read a story about this ongoing study here
