To highlight NBME's responses to the needs of those across the medical education community, the latest edition of NBME Impact: A Community Report is now available. In this edition, you can read about:

  • Continued efforts in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) that includes the newly convened Patient Characteristics Advisory Panel and community giving through complementary learning resources.
  • How NBME is addressing challenges of the transition from medical school to residency. This encompasses NBME's support of the Coalition for Physician Accountability and actions to implement USMLE Step 1 pass/fail scoring.
  • Exam creation processes as visualized in Journey of an Item, Automated Item Generation (AIG), added answer explanations to NBME Self-Assessments, and an upcoming NBME-hosted conference, Natural Language Processing (NLP) in Assessment.
  • Improvements to the exam day experience such as the introduction of the StopIt app and other Prometric test administration resources.

We encourage you to share NBME Impact: A Community Report with those in your educational and professional networks. If you have any questions or comments about the content within this report, please email Communications@NBME.org.
