Recent NBME® Collaboration Advances Assessment

April 10, 2020

An NBME collaboration with our neighbor organizations, the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), is advancing assessment.

Recent research published in Academic Medicine revealed that USMLE® Step examinations (Step 1, Step 2 Clinical Knowledge, and Step 3) as well as ACP Internal Medicine In-Training Exams® (IM-ITE®) helped to predict examinees’ performance on ABIM’s Internal Medicine Certifying Exam (IM-CE).

“The collaborative data and idea-sharing among our groups helped us jointly convey a clear understanding of the utility of the in-training exam in the context of other high stakes assessments,” NBME Medical Advisor Miguel Paniagua, MD, said.
