Discussing Crucial Issues Facing Today’s Medical Regulators

Posted September 9, 2019

The International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA) is hosting an invitation-only symposium in Chicago September 9-10, 2019. The event will explore balancing assurance and improvement of continued competency. NBME is proud to co-sponsor the forum to help bring together leading experts in medical professional regulation from around the world to discuss key issues facing today’s medical regulators.

Medical regulation exists to protect, promote, and maintain the health and safety of the public and IAMRA supports the world’s medical regulatory authorities by ensuring proper standards for medical professionals are met. Through scientific, educational, and collaborative activities, IAMRA strives to encourage best practices among the world’s medical regulatory authorities and to respond to both their current and future needs.

The event is designed to meet the continuing professional development needs of those who have experience or knowledge in developing, implementing, and/or evaluating continued competency interventions, as well as those who are just beginning their career in the field. It is anticipated that attendees will gain critical knowledge to help them fulfill their roles as public protectors.

NBME serves the health of the public through state-of-the-art assessment of health professionals, and is dedicated to research and development in evaluation and measurement. The organization recognizes the role assessment plays in supporting the inferences made by regulatory authorities.

In addition to NBME, the symposium is also sponsored by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), and the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). NBME looks forward to an informative and collaborative event.
