The National Board of Medical Examiners® (NBME®), in conjunction with the Faculties of Medicine at the American University of Beirut, Beirut Arab University, Lebanese University, Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth, and University of Balamand, is pleased to announce the first nationwide administration of the International Foundations of Medicine (IFOM) Clinical Science Examination (CSE).

The NBME invites nominations for the 2012 John P. Hubbard Award.

We are pleased to announce that Lewis R. First, MD, MS was elected to a two-year term as Chair of the National Board of Medical Examiners at the Annual Meeting of the NBME Membership on April 1, 2011.

The NBME is pleased to announce that Judy A. Shea, PhD was selected as the recipient of the 2011 John P. Hubbard Award. The award is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the pursuit of excellence in the field of evaluation in medicine. Susan M. Spaulding, a member of the 2011 Hubbard Award Committee, announced Dr. Shea's selection at the Annual Meeting of the NBME Membership on March 31, 2011.

Since our last update in June 2010, staff has completed successful pilot work in several areas.

The 2010 Fall/Winter Examiner includes articles on the fall 2010 IAMRA conference and new item formats that are under development.
