With the Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment, you can evaluate your readiness, reinforce your knowledge, and maximize study time ahead of the USMLE® Step 2 CK.

The Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment is a practice test designed for students planning to take the USMLE Step 2 CK. It features multiple-choice questions on content typically covered during the core clinical clerkships.

In addition to helping you gain a familiarity with NBME-style questions, the Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment enables you to:

  • Evaluate your readiness to take the USMLE Step 2 CK
  • Target your studies using diagnostic feedback highlighting areas of strength and weakness
  • View answer explanations to reinforce your knowledge and maximize study time
  • Use your self-assessment score to estimate your approximate score on the USMLE score scale

There are multiple forms available for the Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment, each containing 200 multiple-choice questions.

You can choose to take your self-assessment in either a standard-paced or self-paced format.

  • The standard-paced option mimics a live testing environment and contains four sections of 50 questions. You have up to 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete each section.
  • The self-paced option also contains four sections of 50 questions, but allows you up to 5 hours to complete each section.

2021 Form Updates

Designed to enhance your learning and align with USMLE® Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) content, new versions of Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment forms are now available that can:

Provide Helpful, In-Depth Answer Explanations

  • Along with your score report, answer explanations on new forms enable students to maximize valuable study time by helping you to easily learn from mistakes and reinforce what you already understand.

Align with USMLE Content Distribution Changes

Contain More Test Questions and Eliminate Randomization

  • The number of questions per Self-Assessment has increased from 184 to 200. This means you will receive more practice questions in each new form to help you gain more exposure to the types of questions that are similar to the ones on USMLE.
  • Additionally, the questions on each updated form appear in a consistent, sequential order. Eliminating this randomization enables you to share and compare your results more readily with peers and medical school faculty.

Appear in a New User Interface

  • With a modern look and feel, the new user interface for self-assessments possesses the same visual changes examinees may have seen on Basic Science, Clinical Science, Comprehensive and Advanced Clinical Science Subject Examination forms.

Continue to Provide Scoring Information to Help You Assess Your Readiness for Other Exams

  • Scoring information for self-assessments you’ve completed can help you to measure your readiness for upcoming exams. The Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment forms in particular help you to assess your readiness to take Step 2 CK.
